2009 End-to-End Gives Record $340,000 to Charities
Organisers of the Catlin End-to-End today announce that top producer prizes have been awarded from this year’s event which took place on May 2 and that $340,000 was distributed to 11 local charities. This is the largest cash distribution in the event's history.
“We had an amazing group of 2,300 people who made their way across the island this year to support 11 local charities,” says Anne Mello, chair of the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust, which organises the event. “The people we honoured in the ceremony last Thursday are the teams and the individuals who were the top producers and participants. Thanks to their efforts, and the assistance of our generous supporters including Title Sponsor Catlin Bermuda and Premier Sponsors Bank of Bermuda Foundation and M3 Wireless, we have been able to combine the monies pledged this year with sponsorship funds to give our 2009 charities a record total of $340,000. It brings us tremendous pride and pleasure that, in spite of the difficult economic times, we are able to support local charities in such a meaningful way.”
Graham Pewter, President and CEO of Catlin Bermuda, David Lang, Secretary of Bank of Bermuda Foundation, and Michael Beckles, Chief Operating Officer of M3 Wireless, were present at the ceremony and distributed awards to the top award winners.
Speaking at the awards presentation, Mr. Pewter had this to say: “Catlin is a proud to be Title Sponsor of the End-to-End. With Anne Mello at the helm, it’s impossible not to want to support the End-to-End organisation and an event with tremendous reach into the community. It is truly inspiring to see thousands of Bermuda residents come together each year to generate financial support for well-deserving local charities. We intend to be associated with the End-to-End for years to come.”
The Catlin End-to-End event is organised by the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust, and is supported by numerous local sponsors and more than 2,500 individual participants. The Catlin End-to-End’s mission is to be Bermuda’s premier annual charitable pledge event, committed to promoting the happiness and well-being of our island community through all-inclusive activities.
