Catlin becomes title sponsor of the End-to-End

For the next three years, Catlin Bermuda will give substantial funding toward the organization of the Bermuda End-to-End event – resulting in the event being known as the "Catlin End-to-End."

The event – to be held May 3 of this year – will also continue to rely on the support of its other corporate sponsors to organize the event. And the 2,500 or more grass-roots supporters, who collect pledges to walk, row, swim, cycle or otherwise make their way across the island in a one-day blitz May 3, will be relied on to raise money for Bermuda charities.

"The Bermuda End-to-End began in 1987 as a wager among three captive insurance employees who walked from one end of the island to another,” said ETE chair Anne Mello. “The addition of Catlin as our Title Sponsor has cemented our relationship with the insurance/reinsurance industry."

"We have always relied on the generosity of corporate sponsors to organize our event, and we could not be more pleased with the new level of sponsorship offered by Catlin over the next three years," added Mrs. Mello. "All our sponsors are crucial to us, and having Catlin’s added support allows us to enhance and upgrade our event, and could even allow us to make special grants to deserving causes."

However, she emphasized, the need for event participation is as strong as ever, because the pledges raised by End-to-End participants are what support local charities each year.

"The End-to-End ranks as Bermuda’s largest charity event, with about 2,500 people walking, swimming, rowing, paddling, cycling or otherwise making their way across the Island in a one-day blitz to raise money for local good works," said Mrs. Mello.

"We have people of every age and background taking part in this event, which makes this the most inclusive fund-raising effort on the island," she added. "Everyone – from the volunteer board of directors who organizes the event, to every level of sponsor backing it financially, and especially to the participants and those who sign pledge forms to support them – is an important part of a team working to benefit local charities."

"We are delighted with our new association with the Islands' largest fund-raising event, which now forms the foundation of our charitable activities in Bermuda," said Graham Pewter, President & CEO of Catlin's Bermuda operations. "The opportunity to become involved in this major event that promotes wellness as well as providing funding to deserving charities proved irresistible. As a company we hope to play our part in ensuring that the End-to-End continues to go from strength to strength every year."
