Recognising our End-to-Enders

Volunteers are key to this community event
The Catlin end-to-End is pleased to recognize several "End-to-Enders" for their long-term commitment to the fund-raising event.

Ian Birch worked at Johnson & Higgins when the first Bermuda End-to-End was conceptualised, working hand in hand with the three initial “fathers” of ETE. Ian joined in to research the prospect of having the event take place “tip-to-tip” and organised the support for the walkers. For a number of years, he tirelessly worked on organisation of practice walks, water stops and road marshals. He later was also part of an art design judging committee for the annual t-shirt.

Adrian Lee Emery knew Ian Birch through the Bermuda Musical Dramatical Society and was strong-armed into manning and supplying the Camp Hill water stop with fellow BMDS members. 21 years later, he and they are still at it! They provide a cheering squad, water, bananas and a laugh to walkers.

Bruce Barritt and his company, John Barritt & Sons, have supported the Bermuda End-to-End as a generous sponsor since the very beginning. There has been many an End-to-End Saturday in May, where Bruce drove a Barritt’s truck from one end of the island to the other. Many times, he worked tirelessly just a water stop or two ahead of the crowd to ensure there was ample water and Powerade on demand.
