A successful End-to-End!
More than 1,600 participants
More than 1,600 participants tool part in the 2005 Bermuda End-to-End, despite blustery weather at the start.
According to event chairman Anne Mello, "At the Hamilton start, we had a large crowd of walkers huddled for shelter when the Bermuda Regiment band marched right up in the driving rain. The walkers just lit up! They thought if they can show up, then we can undertake this 15-mile walk. They marched them down Front Street and set them on their way to Dockyard."
Shortly after, the sun came out - along with crowds of well-wishers - to encourage participants along the route.
In early counts, the event raised more than $180,000 for charities - although that number is expected to increase as additional pledges and corporate matching donations are collected. Pledges may be dropped off at the Mobility store on Burnaby Street in Hamilton.
