Supporting Charities Through Difficult Times
With only days to go until the 2009 event, organizers of the Catlin End-to-End would like to remind people that now is the time to register.
“This is a tough year for many charities to raise money, and it is more important than ever for people to know that their $40 application fee for this event goes toward support of local charities,” says Anne Mello, chairman of the End-to-End Charitable Trust, which organises the event.
“We rely on registration fees, plus the pledges the walkers and other participants raise from their supporters, to provide donations to local charities,” says Mrs. Mello. “Even if people don’t feel they can participate in the Catlin End-to-End event, or don’t have a participant to support, they can still pledge online or send in a cheque to support the charities,” she adds. “There is no minimum pledge – every bit helps!”
This year’s Catlin End-to-End event will concentrate its support on young people and seniors. The charities are:
- The Aerie Foundation
- Bermuda Public Library
- Bermuda Red Cross
- BIFF Kids
- Centre for Talented Youth Bermuda
- Coalition for the Protection of Children
- Open Airways
- The Family Centre
- The Menuhin Foundation of Bermuda
- The Reading Clinic
- Windreach
The Catlin End-to-End event is organised by the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust, and is supported by numerous local sponsors and more than 2,500 individual participants. The Catlin End-to-End’s mission is to be Bermuda’s premier annual charitable pledge event, committed to promoting the happiness and well-being of our Island community through all-inclusive activities.
